Mission Statement Uplift History Uplift Education is the largest public charter school network in North Texas. Established in 1996 with one school in Irving, we have now grown to a network serving over 17,500 scholars in pre-k through 12th grade on 19 campuses across the D/FW metroplex. Our schools have received national recognition and 100% of our graduates have been accepted to college. Uplift History Each school provides free, college-preparatory education in a community that has limited high quality public education options. Our goal is to completely CLOSE the achievement gap between students, regardless of their ethnic or socio-economic background, while ensuring that 100% of our students graduate and enroll in college. Uplift’s big goal is for 70% of its graduates to earn a college degree within six years. More History Community Context o Large Latin-x population o Over 85% Economically disadvantaged o West Dallas is the area bounded by Interstate 30 on the south, the Trinity River on the east and north, and the Trinity River's West Fork on the west. o Students in West Dallas may also attend Uplift Heights Preparatory [1], a college preparatory, non-selective, but lottery-based public charter school located in the Lake West neighborhood of West Dallas. As of August 2015, Uplift Heights serves slightly more than 1,700 Pre-Kindergarten through 11th grade students. Uplift Heights will have its first graduating class in 2017. Deeper Dive Student Experience and Achievement Goals Middle School: All summer school students will receive a meaningful summer school education that will prepare them for the upcoming school year. In middle school, we aim to have every student achieve 80% average mastery of TEKS taught in summer school. High School: By the end of this course, 85% of Uplift High School students will recover credit. Credit is recovered when students earn a passing grade (70% overall including the final exam) and attend 90% of the days of summer school. *For all courses, we will measure progress toward this goal by striving for every student to achieve 80% average mastery of TEKS taught in summer school (on 1-3 interim summative assessments). Student Experience and Achievement Goals All campuses will meet and maintain 100% of the minimum number for student enrollment throughout summer school. All classrooms will have a minimum of 10 students. Student Enrollment Goals All students will attend a minimum of 90% of the days of summer school. Student Attendance Goals All summer school students will receive a meaningful summer school education that will prepare them for the upcoming school year. We will measure this on two Panorama surveys: 1) taken the first Thursday of summer school and 2) taken the last day of summer school. Students will respond with an average of 75% (3 out of 4) on the following items: -Overall, my teacher is an excellent teacher. -The things I'm learning in this class will prepare me for my future. -My teacher seems to know if something is bothering me. -My teacher knows when the class understands and when we do not. Student Experience Goals Parents/guardians of summer school students will report that the experience was meaningful and helped to prepare them for the upcoming school year. We will measure this on one taken the

Transcript: Wuthering Heights Discussion Questions By: William Rowe Chapter X Chapter VIII Chapter II Chapter XII Chapter IV What do you think the ghosts we see represent throughout these chapters? How does Catherine’s rejection of both Edgar and Heathcliff in this chapter complicate her identity and desires? Chapter VI We see a love and passion between Catherine and Heathcliff. How do we see them seperate and rejoin throughout the two being forced into different roles at the two estates? At this point in the story, how do you believe the eeriness of these estates is infecting Mr. Lockwood? How do you think the symbolism of the whip and the fiddle play into the characters we have met so far? How do the characters found at Thrushcross Grange foil Wuthering Heights? Chapter XI Chapter IX We see Isabella being delicate and conventional in her behavior. How does this foil with Catherine's character? We ssee dogs both in the past and present of the novel. Do you think that Brontë is doing this on purpose to convey a break of boundary? Chapter I Chapter V Chapter VII Chapter III When we get a first impression of this estate we read of a wilderness of crumbling stone griffins and "shameless little boys" etched into the doorway. At first thought what might we suggest is the nature of the people who live there? What is Brontë trying to tell us about Heathcliff's sense of belonging after the reader finds out that he is an orphan? How do we see Catherine struggle with the theme of identity throughout what we've read so far? In chapter three we see Mr. Lockwood in a bedroom in Wuthering Heights. We can see that he starts to lose his sanity. In this chapter how is the past shown to haunt the present, even in the very structure of the house?
